Terrestrial and Aquatic Monitoring Programs
Esgenoôpetitj First Nation

EnCompass Environmental has worked closely with Esgenoôpetitj First Nation since 2021, supporting the terrestrial and aquatic monitoring programs led by the Esgenoôpetitj Watershed Association (EWA).
The multi-year projects combined Indigenous knowledge and western science, supporting local youth and land users to participate in water and sediment sampling programs, as well as the development and implementation of a Terrestrial Species at Risk Monitoring Program. Community members were trained in environmental monitoring techniques and helped gather baseline data in culturally relevant ways. These community-led annual monitoring programs continue today, with EnCompass providing support to EWA Staff.
